Bollywood - Italian Style "Elaignan" Shooting at Cinecittà

From Ben Hur to Gangs of New York, Cinecittá Studios’ fine craftsmen, masterful sets, and talented crews have cultivated a long history of international production. Currently, acclaimed Mumbai director, Suresh Krishnan, is transforming Rome’s 73-year-old studio into the Bay of Bengal circa 1939 for his latest feature Elaignan. Elaignan tells the dramatic tale of Kathir, the son of an indentured servant to a wealthy industrialist.

Cinecittà Studios to Cannes's Festival 2010

Cinecitta Studios debuted on the 63rd Festival De Cannes with a cocktail party organized on the wonderful terrace of the Hotel Martinez on the Croisette. This event was an excellent opportunity for production companies, distributors and other professionals to meet and exchange ideas while spending a pleasant evening. As stated by Lamberto Mancini, General Director of Cinecittà Studios, this evening allowed to officially introduce Cinecittà Digital Factory, operating since January 2009, concentrating all Post-Production Services of our structure.

Cinecittà to re-create the Sistine Chapel

Michelangelo took four years to paint the 12,000-square-foot ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but set designers at Cinecittà Studios in Rome will be recreating the chapel in 4/5 scale in just a few weeks in what will be among the most ambitious set construction projects in Cinecittà in years. The construction will be for Nanni Moretti's newest film project, "Habemus Papam", the Latin phrase used to announce the election of a new pope. The Sistine Chapel houses the College of Cardinals during the conclave held to elect a new pontiff after the previous one dies.

Italy booming after new incentive

Since new Treaty state aid rules kicked in fully in the summer of 2009, Italy has been in the middle of a production frenzy, as producers get wise to both national and regional incentives available for their pictures. The new state provisions cover the whole country, as the Italian Film Commission explains: " The new law provides for tax credits of up to USD6.5 million for producers. The law also provides for the sheltering of profits, not only for film production and distribution companis, but also for companies not previously operating within the film sector.

Rome's Cinecittà Studios partners with U.S. based Montana Artists Agency

In a move that bolsters the domestic and global reach of Cinecittá Studios, the company has formed a partnership with Los Angeles-based Montana Artists Agency. Under the leadership of Executive Vice President Matt Birch, Montana Artists Agency, will represent Cinecittá Studios in the United States. Cinecittá Studios services film, commercial, television, music video and multimedia industries worldwide.
