Cinecittà Studios hosts Italy's top advertising awards

SANTA MONICA, CA - The worlds of advertising and film-making came together in grand tradition on December 3, 2003, for the 18th Annual Italian Association of Advertising Awards, held at the Federico Fellini Theater, on the grounds of Cinecittà Studios. Besides focusing on the symbiotic relationship between advertising and feature films, a common theme during the evening, this was the first majior award ceremony to take place in Rome, rather than the more "commercial" city of Milan. Not surprisingly, most of the awards presented on this star-studded evening were won by Rome-based agencies and artists. A surprise guest of the talent-filled event was the "Grande Maestro" Mario Monicelli (writer and/or director of over 150 films and winner/nominee of many international awards including two Oscar nominations). Famed Director of Photography, Giuseppe Rotunno ("All That Jazz" and many Fellini films), commented on the similarities between commercials and film. However, it was director Renny Harlin ("Die Hard 2", "Driven"), presenter of the final Grand Prix Award, who summed up the spirit of the event. .....
